Title: Regional Characteristics of the German AI-industry
Responsible person: Madeleine Buckisch
Recent developments in artificial intelligence have demonstrated considerable potential to improve efficiency in production processes, enhance data collection and analysis, and contribute positively to organizations’ innovation performance. The rapid advancement of AI has also attracted significant attention from investors worldwide, which is reflected in the substantial levels of capital raised by numerous start-ups in recent funding rounds.
Beyond the extensively studied U.S. context, the German AI sector has become an increasingly important area of interest. It is widely expected to play a central role in driving the country’s digital transformation. Consequently, gaining a deeper understanding of the industry’s underlying mechanisms, key drivers, structural characteristics, and the factors that explain its market presence is highly relevant (Sharbaf et al., 2022).
This bachelor seminar delves into the analysis of these characteristics through the lens of the innovation systems approach. Participating students write a seminar paper using either qualitative or quantitative methods. The seminar will be held in English.
